Muladhara - Root Chakra
Our Root Chakra represents our seat of security, home our will to live.
The root Chakra is the first Chakra. Its energy is based on the earth element. It’s associated with the feeling of safety and grounding. It’s at the base of the Chakra system and lays the foundation for unlimited growth in your life.
Where is the Root Chakra?
The first Chakra or Root Chakra is located at the base of the spine. The corresponding body locations are the perineum, along the first three vertebrae, at the pelvic plexus. This Chakra is often represented as a cone of energy starting at the base of the spine and going downward and then slight bent up.
The four petals of the Root Chakra represent;
Physically - Our Sexual Body, physical Identity and aspect of self, our sense of smell, Base of the spine.
Emotionally - The Sensual Body, self preservation, and our basic needs of food, sleep, home.
Mentally - Stability, security, safety.
Spiritually - our Strong foundation for life, Grounding
When this Chakra is in harmony then that amazing feeling of general well being exists, you enjoy a healthy lifestyle, have inner confidence and radiance, a lightness of being, positivity, emotional resilience, a calming influence on others and a strong sense of family and home.
The Root Chakra provides the foundation on which we create our life. It enables us in growth of character and feeling safe into exploring all aspects of life. It's our metaphorical root, an anchor of safety and security that allows us to go forth into the world and realize our full potential in all areas of life including physical, bodily, providing a home financial abundance.
When your Root Chakra is blocked by negative energy it's difficult to find that sense of home or role in life, security gives way to doubt, fear, and your emotional and physical well-being suffers.
When our positive energy is blocked it manifests in our physical body as lower back pain, sciatica, rectal cancers, low immune system, hypertension, impotence, colitis, eating disorders, prostate issues in men, constipation, kidney stones, circulatory issues, leg weakness.
Emotional blocks or repression can lead to depression, anger, anxiety, greed, delusion, self--centred, an inability to provide for oneself, feelings of loss and isolation, lack of focus. co-dependency, feelings of abandonment, irrational fear, guilt, resentment
A blocked Root Chakra not only creates an imbalance in energy flow throughout the body, but it can also instigate feelings of restlessness. You may feel like you’re constantly searching for an elusive something that you can’t even identify.
Individuals with a blocked root chakra find it difficult to “settle down” with anything, including where they want to live and work and their personal relationships.
Below are selected quotes that explain what it means when imbalance takes place in this Chakra.
When a young infant faces danger or neglect, it forces him to fall back on himself— an independence which is developmentally impossible. Instead the child falls into an intolerable pit of fear and helplessness— the experience of having no ground. When this happens, the downward current of energy is blocked. Instead, the life force moves toward the upper chakras, which feel safer. The upward movement then becomes habitual, depleting the lower chakras and sending the system out of balance.

The Mūlādhāra Chakra is the seat of the unconscious. It is like a dark, locked cellar whose hidden contents we have only a vague idea about. Perhaps there are precious stones, or perhaps poisonous scorpions or snakes. When a snake is sleeping, therefore in an unconscious state, it appears to be peaceful and harmless, but in a wakeful state it can be extremely menacing and dangerous. (…) One question that is often raised is whether it would be better to allow the unconscious to remain buried rather than to stir it up. The answer is that we can only attain freedom when everything that we have carried with us since the beginning of our existence is brought up into the light. Further spiritual development is only possible when everything we have amassed has been processed and purified, and all obstacles from the past removed; it is only when our vision is clear that we are able to recognize the path that will lead us towards realization.

When we balance these emotional centres by letting go of negativity through acceptance and acknowledgement and the knowledge that only the present matters, we enable ourself to enjoy simple pleasures then the mind body can be free to 'be', at peace and embody bliss.
Wishing you love and light.
