Sensuality is a term that brings to mind connotations of sexuality. But sensuality is an integral part of everyday life, raising our well-being and joy. Cultivating an awareness and presence we can naturally elevate our senses just with the slightest touch on skin, natural material against our skin, the food we eat and the movement of our bodies. Many women have been led to believe that its their partner's role to turn them on. In fact it's when we are in tune with our bodies, aware of our own life force or sexual energy that we feel the joy that our bodies can bring us. When we can fully relax and find happiness in the internal that's when a connection with a partner becomes a far more enriching experience. We are blessed that our bodies are not just for making the next generation but to share our love energy with our partner in a way that nurtures the mind, body and soul. Only when we feel safe and relaxed can our bodies open up to our full potential to bliss and actually in a far more pleasurable way than many men are capable of.
I have been blessed to have been taught by one of the few living Tantra Masters Daniel Odier. Kashmiri Tantra Yoga - Tandava is a moving meditation, engaging the mind-body in the flow of life. Slow motion movements open the shoulders and massage the heart, we open our arms to love and the infinite possibilities of life, through time our bodies open up to the 'Spanda' our inner vibration of life flooding our bodies with natural serotonin, imperative for mental health.
Whilst moving free form we engage not only the upper body but the pelvis. Both men and women bring the life force energy up through the body contracting our PC muscles (kegel exercises), bliss floods the body in the form of vital sexual energy.
For women it keeps our yoni (vagina) juicy and toned and for men the lingam (penis) becomes strong and all the sexual energy channels open. We are then able to give to and receive love from our beloved yet capable of igniting our own inner sexuality. When we can just 'be' in the moment not thinking of anything only to enjoy every sensual touch. That's when we can truly let go of past conditioning, stress, anxiety, past trauma, guilt and shame. Tantra practices give us the tools to just do that and feel at peace with ourselves and others. Living in the body rather than living in the mind, ultimately we are not defined by our thoughts and just like our emotions, are transient.
